let's sheer what we're up against...

Fact = I am a slave to fashion. (As soon as fall changed into winter, I was already researching the trends for spring just to get ahead.)

Myth = Fashion trends are over-rated. (There's nothing wrong with being fashion forward, even if it does mean standing out.)

Fact = This is a blog where I'm going to say what's in for 2010, what's sooooo 2009, and other rad fashion tid-bits, and you're going to listen. (Or not.)

So let's get started!

Spring 2010 Trend #1: Sheer Fabrics

The trend of pretty, sheer fabrics is totally in for the spring. A see-through blouse is a sweet and simple article of clothing that should be in every girl's closet this season. This is one of my favorite fashion trends this spring because of how simple it is to put together a swell outfit. Sheer fabrics are an easy way to show off some skin and be sexy while still looking classy and sophisticated. This trend was present and was seen in a few fall + winter collections in 2009, but it's more relevant for the spring + summer because of the warmer temperatures. This also goes to show that you always have to be 10 steps ahead in the fashion world when it comes to trends.

Stella McCartney's spring collection is full of precious sheer fabrics. Her dress that I have included is probably one of my favorites in her 2010 spring collection. It's the classic "little black dress" every girl should own, and it incorporates the simplicity of the sheer which makes it a truly beautiful piece. This is a perfect look for both a fun night on the town or a fancy tea party.

Valentino is always known for his extravagant dresses with recognizable structure. The cream colored dress uses sheer fabric to its maximum ability. It shows off its versatility and strength in a monochrome piece. This dress strongly contrasts with Erin Fetherston's sheer black blouse. She pairs the feminine, ruffled black blouse with a straight, black skinny pant to balance out the shirt with its masculinity. This simple outfit is great for the office.

Marios Schwab has gone sheer crazy! Almost every look in his spring 2010 collection has a piece of sheer clothing in it. He uses similar textures (satin, silk, etc.) to really exaggerate the softness and femininity of the fabric. The pretty pastel colors also add to the simple beauty of the sheer fabrics.

Have these looks made you go sheer insane?! Here are a few looks to make you sheer fabulous:
